iNavX: Marine Navigation App Recensioni

Programma moltomvalido

Ottimo programma

Utilizzo inavix da molto tempo. Lho provato in regata, in crociera e lho trovato molto affidabile. Ottimo poi come allarme ancora in rada.

Explorer charts

Just purchased Explorer charts for the Bahamas and I cannot download the charts. Warning unable to connect to tiled chart server….

iNavX

Very limited coverage

Purchased Bahamas Explorer package - disappointed

Two issues that make this a regretted purchase. First: Performance of these maps is horrible. Can’t pan without waiting and waiting. I’m using an iPhone 16 pro so not hardware related. Application needs a lot of performance work. Second: the quilting doesn’t work. Some areas are just what I expected with great detail like the exumas but then large areas with poor grainy low resolution details which are worthless such as New Providence channel and nearby areas. I’ve used the free NOAA charts in the app for over a year with pretty good results other than too tricky when wanting to zoom out to next larger chart. But once on a chart, beautiful.

Helps me learn

I’m new to Sailing. NX has given me the opportunity to understand sea levels, ocean bottom levels, and the like. As I get more into it, I’m gonna go ahead and pay for the better option

INAVX

Best app ever. Always right

Not practical

A real pain as the maps area you purchased doesn’t show . You need to hunt for the map you want in the menu and upload it each time Makes no sense

Not user friendly

The app crashes constantly. You can purchase map sets that will ultimately fail to open or function correctly. I want a refund.

NOAA Charts Not Updating?

NOAA charts on laptop show changes to marks, but iNavX appears to have stopped permitting the app to update them. used to be when you went into a regions charts the beginning of the year when NOAA updated you could update all the charts that were downloaded. Now it appears that the charts are permanently stuck from to the initial date they were initially downloaded. INavXused to be a useful backup to navigating. Something you could grab after working with something like Expedition. The lack of other chart types to match professional charts used on the main boat and the increasing fees for what is otherwise a secondary service has made this app unnecessary. Real shame. It used to be a nice back up to carry around.

Under Rated on App Store!

I have been using INavX for over ten years. I was amazed at how low the ratings on the App Store were and felt the need to add a positive review. When I started using INavX in 2011, it was the only iPhone/iPad app that was able to do what I needed. It has served me well for many years, and I feel it is one of the better values in the App Store. INavX has supported my account with updates on several iPhones, iPads, and now my M3 MacBook Pro.

NOAA charts at your fingertips!

Very useful program

A must have if your a sailor

My first app review… this is a must have for us as we are live aboard sailors. We use the app just about every day ether finding an anchorage or contacting a marina. One feature is that is not often spoken about is the talented support they have. I started the booking process, gotten an offer but thinking I had completed the process let it drop. The Navily team reached out an reminded me the offer was about to expire. I had a chance to jump in and complete my transaction thank you (Guiseppi and Guido). Guido went one step further when he saw that the marina misunderstood the info and helped to clear up for both sides. Within the app there are many cool features - but I will highlight one here. They have weather info to help rate an anchorage several days out. We love this we found it to be very helpful (though you may need the subscription version for this feature). One other feature we love is reading the reviews. You feel be out so much about the places through real visitors. Lastly, we have met many other boaters through the chat features. Wow what a great tool

fishandshoot

not as advertised does not show vessels near me uses a lot of battery but shows my position very clearly

No Bahama navigational charts

I contacted iNavX for help in buying the proper navigational charts for the Bahamas. I had multiple emails with a gentleman named Jim who recommended the iNavX professional + USA b/c it covered the Bahamas and the Waterway Guide -7-in-1 Bundle. After downloading the charts and guide I was unable to view any charts for the Bahamas. I got back in touch with Jim via email. He made multiple attempts to look at the Bahamas. He reported back that they no longer have charts for the Bahamas and I should request for a refund from the Apple Store. I applied for a refund and was told that no refund was possible for this purchase. I’m out $100 with nothing but garbage. Jim was very nice but the software is atrocious. Do not do business with this company!!!!!

Anti-intuitive.

Moved on. This is garbage.

No

No

Really needs improvement

I want to love this app because it provides access to NOAA raster charts. I’ve been using it for years and appreciate the ability to use raster charts on a mobile device. But as a navigation tool it has serious shortcomings. First, whenever you launch it it pops up ads for AIS subscriptions. No navigation app should interrupt you with ads. Second, the interface is ancient and hasn’t received a significant update in a decade (aside from incorporating ads for AIS overlays). Just try entering a lat/Lon position manually, for example! Third, switching between charts is incredibly clunky as well as buggy…sometimes the app thinks I don’t have any charts downloaded and only offers a blurry world chart. Fourth, while using the app it constantly recenters on you, which makes it extremely frustrating if you’re trying to explore your destination. I’ve provided this feedback to the developer and never received a response. My advice is to look elsewhere for a charting app, whether you’re a beginner or advanced user.

Great tool.

I love it especially when navigating new waters.

Great app.

This is the one of the best apps for beginners. Easy to use and always available when I need it.

Decent Charts, Clunky User Experience

I recently tried out the iNavX app on both my iPhone and iPad, primarily attracted by its high-resolution charts. Unfortunately, the overall user experience didn't measure up to competitors like Navionics and Navily, which I find to be much more intuitive and user-friendly. The charts on iNavX are indeed of good quality and detail, which is a strong point for the app. This might be particularly appealing for those who prioritize visual clarity and precision in marine navigation. However, when it comes to ease of use, iNavX falls short. The interface feels less intuitive, and navigating through the app is more cumbersome compared to the smoothness of Navionics and Navily. Given my experience, I'll continue to rely on Navionics as my primary navigation tool. iNavX, while having its merits in chart resolution, will only be used on an as-needed basis due to its less user-friendly setup. For anyone considering iNavX, be prepared for a bit of a learning curve if you're already accustomed to more streamlined apps like Navionics.

Login is Impossible

Can’t login. No keyboard and worthless effort to link to saved passwords on iOS.

Good

Super good

Super Dope!

Love this app/nav program!

Unintuitive and clunky to use.

The app feels unfinished. It’s like it was created as a school project. Nearly impossible to quickly navigate. Be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to figure it out.

App constantly loses map base.

Each time I try to use this app, it says it needs to reload all the N6 maps and the x-traverse system is almost hopelessly complex... It always wants me to repurchase and renew some subscription or whatever. When it works it great but I never can get it to work and there's no helpline to correct it. Plus it cost a lot of money initially and they need more money every time I try to restart the app. Help... As of today 9-3-21 all Navionics N6 Charts have disappeared with no apparent way to reload the charts. App is useless with no charts. I don’t need charts for Norway as I’m in Minnesota… Looks like Navionics and others are no longer available in INavX? App is empty now and not useable! Still same lack of Lakemapping in Midwest. I had hoped they would establish a connection to one of the many lake map or typical fishing maps useful in Minnesota, but that hasn’t happened I guess… That makes this really nice app useless for inland navigation. It was great but I’m not able to use any of the new maps that other offer such as C-Map or Navionics. Please offer Minnesota maps? B

It locks up

I have an m2 iPad Pro. This app will lock up every 30 minutes to an hour. The only way to get it back is to open and close it until it crashes and then you have to set it up again. It won’t be there when you need it. The iNavX charts are missing a lot of place names, so you will need other charts to find where you want to go.

Great app, but NO

This is a great app. Until you are trying to navigate on a sunny day and an AD appears covering the screen. Help! How does one get rid of the Ad and get back to navigating. What are they thinking?

Navigation

Great app

Sailor

You get a chart plotter ($3,000) for ($50) that fits in your pocket, making your iPhone even more useful. Great as a backup or when you are on a boat without a chart plotter. For me it is a great value. Just for marketing, I would lower the price and sell 100x as many.

Gov’t charts

I like the fact that INavX provides the government charts very similar to the paper charts I’m used to.

Poor experience

The app either doesn’t have maps for my location (Austin), or I couldn’t figure out how to add them. Either way it’s really hard and clunky to find maps. Also, registering got me on an email list serve with a broken unsubscribe button. So impossible to unsubscribe. Hopefully deleting my account will fix.

Chart download glitch

Because of a discontinued chart (531_1) in the USA West collection, you can’t do a batch downward of that collection. I haven’t tried the other collections. It makes the process painfully cumbersome and s l o w. Developers, please remove discontinued charts from the collection(s).

Great backup GPS and Charting app

I am a professional yacht captain and I use this app all of the time to plan my voyages. It is also a great backup chart plotter if you have a failure with your onboard system.

Abuse of notifications

I had iNavx on my phone for a sailing trip. I tried using the app, but couldn’t get through the complexity and stuck with Navionics I had notifications enabled and just received an in-pho e notification, that was a prompt to purchase. IMO, this is an abuse of notifications to see me something, rather than provide navigation notifications. If iNavx can’t find the balance of desires and complexity, and will abuse notifications for sales, I don’t believe they have the right customer value focus

I don’t get it 🤷‍♂️

For me, electronic maps need to be iPhone/iPad friendly. I don’t need a duplication of paper maps. I need navigation aides and directions, etc. I don’t think this app hits any markers Inhave🤷‍♂️ it is just paper maps on the iPhone. Either I am too stupid to figure out how to use it or it is in-intuitive. To be real, what I want on my electronic device is a maritime version of google maps. Ie: 1- download app, need some maps. Okay, select charts, west coast, entire west coast. Select download, part way through informed that one of the maps is no longer available- process stops. Okay, download individual maps, ouch - that is painful. This process is untenable!!! 2- Zooming out requires you to name the map you want to zoom out too- Ug! I am definitely not the target audience. I have a book and a chart folder for my charts. I am looking for the next level of navigation not ancient mariners charts. If someone wanted to convince me otherwise I would love to see why this app is otherwise useful.

Not exceptional

The app itself has been there for more then a decade an I used it then. The interface remains clunky and dated. If you try to research remote locations this thing jumps back to your current location.

BVI

I love that I can use this software on my iPad. I have used it many times with great results and the anchor watch function works fine. My only issue lately is that I could not update my BVI chart package as they no longer carry BA BVI charts.

South America charts

I downloaded the app based on the good reviews. I live in Brazil and there is no chart of South America available for download. The charts available are only for American users, making the app totally useless for me. So, I have a question: if the app is designed only for American users, why do you make it available for the rest of the world?

Tracks

I’ve tried to export the tracks many times but they are readable by garmin The gpx format is one that allows exchange between programs No answer from tech support Can anyone help? Thanks

Love the chart plotting and could improve here....

The waypoint and route planning could use some improvement but otherwise a pretty good software.

This app is a joke

This app is a joke. Downloaded and opened to location. Couldn’t zoom in below about 50 miles. Searched maps. Oh wait, I can. Buy the maps for my region for only $159! Now why would I pay $159 to buy maps when I can’t even zoom down to see the area? Will not use and certainly don’t recommend.

Powerful app, but the maps

I was using the app with the noaa data for many years. very clunky with zoom in and out. Bought the USA maps upgrade and wow! Just got two more stars. Works like it should. App is complicated, lots of stuff, but way easier to use than handheld gps devices.

Can’t say enough bad things about this app

This is the most un-user friendly app I’ve ever used. The UI has zero intuitivenesses. Try to create a route to sail from one location to another? Add starting and ending waypoints and hit “go to” it shows a strait line route across land. I do the same thing in the Navionics Boating app and it shows the correct route through the water with the estimated distance and time it will take. After trying to figure out how to use this app I finally had to read the users guide. No help there. Totally worthless app, don’t waste your money like I did.

INavX

I was use to a Nav system on my IPad that was great for Sailing on the Great Lakes or fishing in a variety of inland lake. I could just zoom to an area of the state and country to study the lakes or Great Lakes topography. This system I can not do with out going to a quadrant I have know idea of what is in that quadrant. I would like my money back please. Brian Nelson

I used to love it.

I used to love this app. However, the removal of Navionics charts killed the app for me. I bought their global maps, but they are EXTREMELY hard to read. This was my primary chart plotter for years. Now I want my money back. I hate to go back to Navionics, because I do not like their app. But, I feel like iNavx wants me to leave. What a disappointment.

Don’t buy the AIS subscription- doesn’t work

Bought this to see AIS data in the Houston ship channel and Galveston area. No traffic was ever visible. Doesn’t work, save your money.

Charts Won't Load!

I've had this app for 3 years now with no problems at all, and I loved it until now. I suddenly can't get the charts to load, just a gray screen. I restarted my phone and it just showed a very distant view of the charts (can't zoom in at all). I deleted and reinstalled the app, still nothing (IPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 15.6). I had just renewed my subscription 2 months ago, what a waste of money! I live in remote coastal Alaska and need charts on my phone, so I'm going to cancel my subscription, delete the app and switch over to Savvy Navvy. And I want a refund please!

INavX

Good as it gets. Real Noaa charts. No complaints.

Terrible app

Don’t even waste your time. They clearly pay for reviews because this is the worst app I’ve ever downloaded. The map is terrible

Don’t waste your money!

App is ok but the charts are awful. No way to customize charts. Purchased a year subscription to check the app out. Once I checked the app out and realized how bad it was I tried to cancel the subscription within an hour of signing up but could not - no trial period offered. Navionics and Active Captain are far better and worth the money.
